At One Eleven East, we are extremely fortunate to have great neighbors. Our historic downtown is full of local establishments, and we’ve loved becoming a part of the community here. If you’ve never been to Hutto, the Texan Cafe & Pie Shop is probably the local establishment you’re most likely to hear about— and once you’ve visited, you’ll most likely be telling everyone about it as well!
You’ll be able to spot it as soon as you turn onto East Street because the exterior is topped with the giant head of a cow named Ferdinand and it’s always bustling with cars out front. A local establishment since 1996, the Texan Cafe & Pie Shop is definitely known for its “home-cooking with a kick”, particularly the chicken fried steak, fried pickles, and BLTs (where the T is a fried green tomato!)… but then there’s what it’s loved for: the pie.
Tuesday through Saturday from 3-5pm, the Texan Cafe & Pie Shop hosts a Pie Happy Hour that will leave your stomachs full and your hearts happy. Their selection includes 23 house regulars to choose from and 18 others that come and go periodically… if there was ever a place to participate in a pie eating contest that required a little variation, this would be it!
Mainly, what’s so great about the cafe is the staff. They’re super kind and attentive, and we’re excited to be a block over from them. The amount of “meetings” we hold there just to walk away with a slice of pie is growing each week!
